Code of Conduct
* All vendors will act in a professional and courteous way to any and all that enter this establishment, to each other and to Management.
- No vendor will check him/herself out when making purchases.
- Each vendor is responsible for cleaning up after him/herself.
- Smoking of any kind is not permitted at the front of the store or within 50 ft of entrances
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- This should be your #1 concern
- We all need to work on this
- What does this mean
- Greet everyone that walks through the door. There is sheet hanging on the wall by
checkout
- KNOW what is in the store. Familiarize yourself with what each vendor carries this
so, you can direct a customer to the booth and you don’t have to say “I don’t
know”. If you really don’t know, offer to help them look.
- If customers come in looking for things we don’t have, direct them to Canastota Gift
& Thrift, Weeden’s, Johnny Appleseed, Pot Luck Thrift Shop, or Room To Improve,
All of which we have info. For on the black table by the entrance. NEVER tell them “I don’t know”
- Engage with the customers by asking how they are, if they are looking for something specific, making small talk. If they ask how you are, just say “Good” or
something to that effect. They really don’t care about your personal life. You can
talk with them about everyday things.
- When they are leaving, whether they bought anything or not, thank them for
coming, tell them you look forward to seeing them again and wish them a nice day
- Promote our events and sales. Give them our flyers for sidewalk sales open
House or other events. There is a sheet next to checkout where we all can write
our sales on. Each of you that works, should familiarize yourself with those sales.
- When people are in the store you should be walking the floor, especially if there are
2 of you. Engage with the customer by letting them know you're available to help
them and answer any questions. Most of the time, seeing that there is staff around
and paying attention will discourage anyone
thinking to shoplift. If they have items in their hands, offer to take them to the
counter so they can continue to shop
